Alhamdulillah, Ramadhan & Eid came and went in a flash. Even though it was a time for celebration and happiness, I couldn't help feeling rather down. It has been a sad few weeks.
Puan Fatimah, the Chairman of PDK Permatang Damar Laut, the charity body that I'm contributing to, had just lost her daughter to a lung infection the last Ramadhan. Mumtaj was a vibrant young woman who also contributed her time and energy at the centre as volunteer. I didn't get the chance to get to know her well, but I believe she was a kind soul. When I visited Puan Fatimah a few days after the wake which I missed, I cried listening to her story.
A few days later, I received another startling news of the passing of a respected Dewanita member, Puan Rohani Md Anwar, or Umi as I affectionately call her. I am not sure what was her ailment, but she too, never showed any signs of frailness or sickness in the few weeks I saw her before Ramadhan. She was always this energetic and fashionable lady who was not afraid to speak her mind. In fact, she even introduced me this amazing product the last time I met her. She shall be missed dearly by all of us.
May Allah blesses both Umi's and Mumtaj's soul, admit them along with the righteous and make them among the inhabitants of Jannah. Amin.
