UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

Friendship Remains And Never Can End...

20 years ago, those were the words every girl between the age of 9-12 would write on their friends' autograph books. I'm pretty sure the girls of the current generation would come up with something more sophisticated than that. Worse still, does autograph books still exist? Where we'd write out out biodata i.e favourite food/drinks or ambitions as if our friends care? Or has everything gone digital nowadays cool gadgets, facebook, twitter, etc?

Well, whatever it is, I'm glad Linda & her friends enjoyed these great combination of her own choice - banana cupcakes with peanut butter & jelly filling & honey buttercream. Very very delicious.

Happy Birthday, Linda!

A FRIEND IN NEED..

Sometimes I couldn't help thinking like I'm some sort of a superwoman.

How on earth I juggled 3 simultaneous orders in one night, designing, printing, cutting & gluing tags, rushed to the office, delivered the 3 orders within the same day and still make to that meeting in Penang (on a Friday summore! Hallo, Penang traffic on a Friday is impossible hokay?), I honestly don't know.

And I deserve a round of applause and a pat on the back for being able to pick up Nunu at 7pm on the dot as I've promised. Big round of applause, everyone!

This set was another SOS call. Kasuma pinged me and missed, then emailed me with a frantic request. To send a box of cuppies for her dearest friend, Kak Pah who was just transferred to a nearby school. A few sms exchanges after that, and it was settled. Such a pleasure to do business with you Kasuma! Another less than 24-hour notice order, but I guess the Almighty made it possible and easy for me.

Flavours were a mix of mint chocolatey cupcakes with mint buttercream and my latest experiment, moist chocolatey banana cuppies. They were delisious maximus but I have to tweak on the texture a bit more.

Happy belated Birthday, Kak Pah. Too bad I couldn't wait for you in the office and wish you personally. I had to go and save the world!

Up, up and away!

BOOLICIOUS BANANA CUPPIES

Once in a blue moon, I get a request that is quite out of the ordinary. And when I got this order of banana cupcakes from Sam (again) who's always game to taste something different, I was elated. Finally, somebody who loves the bananary flavour!

She didn't want anything too fancy, so to dress it up a little bit, I suggested we put cute little tags on the cuppies.

This set was a gift for Sam's boyfriend, and from her response, he loved it very much! Isn't he lucky to have such a thoughtful gal?

BANANARAMA

As a child, one of the sweetest baking memory I had is with my father. You see, my Abah LOVES everything bananas, and is very fond of my Mom's banana cake. I remember that I always helped Mom in the kitchen to make this particular banana cake that Abah loves. So one day, Abah came home early from work and asked me whether we have some cake at home. Mom was still at work and Abah was really craving for the banana cake and couldn't wait for Mom to come home.

So what did we do? We made the cake all by ourselves! Now, I was still a kid at the time, probably around 10 and my Abah isn't the kind of dad who knows his ways around the kitchen. I couldn't remember the exact recipe so we just kinda winged it, haha. Threw in a bunch of bananas, flour, sugar, eggs and milk into the oven, and whaddya know? The cake came out even better than Mom's!

We had quite a laugh over this, and Mom is always so 'bengang' when we remind her that Abah makes a better banana cake, even if it's just for that one time! Of course, we could never replicate the recipe, but the memory of it remains :)

Here's my banana cupcake - also made with the same 'just wing it' attitude.

Kept the recipe pretty simple. But the frosting is cream cheese, moderately so. Just a tiny hint of cheese. Topped with caramelized banana.

Very soft texture & very much bananary. I'm sure that's not even an actual word, but I've heard it being used before. On AFC I think, that makes it legit :D
