UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

Chelsea Hantaran Cupcakes

Idayu is a teacher friend of hubby's and for her engagement, she'd like to have a hantaran set in Chelsea football team. This is my best take on her sample photo that she sent me.

When hubby learnt that she's going to get married to a Chelsea fan, he snarkily commented, "Kenapa tak pilih orang MU?" (clearly he's an obsessed MU fan to ask that right?). I texted Idayu about it and what she replied? "Coz orang MU tak best...". Hahahhahahahaaa....

Idayu and her fiance is already married now so Selamat Pengantin Baru, Idayu.

Purple Flowers & Butterflies for Hayu

One of a baker's worst nightmare is the rain. It's just frustrating when your gumpaste figures wilt under your very eyes just as you were delivering your cupcakes to your customer under the rain. Thanks for understanding Hayu, who requested for this repeat design. She also ordered 400 pcs of assorted cheesey pop tarts.

Acu's E-Day

One of my best memories with her was our daily lunch date in our rooms. Oooh I remember how I used to enjoy a huge pack of nasi campur plus an equally huge packet of teh o ais limau (which I'm pretty much addicted to) back then.

So when I heard the news that my good old friend from my uni days was getting married, I was ecstatic. I couldn't be happier to make a cake for her, even if it means that I'll have to go to Parit Buntar to attend her engagement ceremony. It's a favour I'd have to return for she and a couple of friends were there for me when I got engaged.

Selamat Bertunang, Fizah and I'm looking forward to your wedding :)

Apple-Green & Peach Flower

A hantaran set I made for Mum's old friend's daughter's wedding. Again, the wet weather disappointed me when the fondant became too soft. I had to do a lot of touch ups when I transferred the cuppies onto the hantaran tray.

Flavour was moist chocolatey cupcakes with choc lava filling & ganache.

A Promise I Make

My sweet sister, Cik Apple Mint ordered these as a gift for her friend who was getting engaged.

We didn't get much information on the theme colour, so she gave me the creative license and thankfully, the colour combination I chose matched exactly with the ribbons when Cik Apple came by later with the hantaran box.

Thank you Cik Apple Mint! I hope you friend and her fiance were happy with this precious gift from you.

The Pretty Cake That Could (well, almost!)

This is the cake that almost didn't make it... Atikah placed an order for this hantaran cake on behalf of her mom who wanted to give it as a present to a friend whose daughter was getting married (huh? come again?)

I wasn't in the best of health to finish decorating the cake. After failing the second time to cover the cake while battling a hazy, fuzzy, flu-medication-induced mind, I turned to a good friend, Kak Tun to help me this one time while I had to settle my other deliveries.
I'm not ashamed to give credit when it is due..

But that's a very nice bouquet of flowers, right? Atikah requested the same cake from a photo she emailed me and I was more that happy to oblige. But of course I didn't make those flowers myself. I ordered them from Kak Linda from the famous Kaori Cake. I'm so inspired to learn make these flowers myself. One day, Insya-Allah... I've already taken my first step, finally got my hands on those gumpaste modeling tools. Bought them at Mr. DIY at the fraction of its original price!

Thank you Atikah & her mom for your trust in my cake... well, of course I baked that cake. It was vanilla cake with blueberry filling and covered in vanilla buttercream. That credit goes to me :D

Jong Jong Inai

It was a busy and eventful week for me. I had orders lining up, tonnes of paperwork and chores to do amongst other responsibilities. And to top it off, I had a minor accident while walking to the back of my house to get my dry laundry last Thursday. I won't get into the details but here's a clue anyway, it was a case of 'Jong Jong Inai'. If you know how the rhyme goes (not the hiphop song ah), you'll know what happened to me :)

Anyway, the show must go on. So many people getting engaged, the most important person  which was my dear adik angkat Cik Apple Mint. No matter how exhausted and incapable I felt to go on with this cake, I soldiered on and luckily got some help from my aunt (who is Cik Apple Mint's mak angkat) to rearrange the sugar flowers bouquet for me.

All I had to do was bake the most gorgeous moist chocolate cake, ice it, roll out the fondant and cover the cake (not easy to keep it pristine white!) and trim the edges with a butterfly ribbon. All done by limping all over the kitchen and my work table. Now I know how an orang kelainan upaya feels :(  Allah baru uji sikit...

Simple cake jer ye dik, nama pun sponsor... :D

What a way to end such a crazy week. Balik rumah lepas makan kenduri (nasi putih, gulai ikan kering, ikan talang masin & ulam jer tapi terbaeeeek punyalah! opps lupa, also got bihun goreng straight from the kawah gilababas punya best) terus tidor terbongkang and finally had time to put my injured foot up to recuperate!

For Cik Apple Mint

These were for my adik angkat, Cik Apple Mint.

Since she loves apples so much, I made Sweet Avalon - apples and cinnamon cupcakes. I'd love to combine apples and mint, just like the nickname of si tuan punya badan but..... bukan si tuan punya badan yang nak makan kan... I don't want her bakal mentua to sumpah seranah me! Apa punya combination flavour daaa....

Simple je dik. Kawin nanti nanti Kak Anne buat grand-grand sikit lagi ye. 2-3 tahun lagi kan... sempat la akak nak kutip skill... hehe!

I'd Like To K.I.S.S

Yes I do. Keep It Sweet and Simple. That's what I said. What did you think I meant?

Thank you again Kak Munirah! This hantaran set was for her niece's engagement. Eh, last week kan dah bertunang? Noooo... last week si adik bertunang, this week the kakak pulak.

Roses In Pink-Silver

Another set for my beloved sis, Kak Umi who ordered this hantaran set for her cousin.

Spent the whole night trying out my new alphabet cutter. Took me that long due to the wet weather (again, blame it on the rain!)

Still need practice, but do you like my roses? Haha, I used a cheap mould that costs.... wait for it.... TWO RINGGIT!

DAISY CHAIN

Posted by Picasa

Lovely daisies ordered by Azrina of PapaKeeChee. The sample photo she included was just a lonely daisy atop a cupcake (well, a mini cake actually) so I jazzed it up a little with some lacey effect on the edges. Looks kinda good, right?

Flavour was vanilla peach. Thanks so much dear for the generous order. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your adik-adik's wedding. Melepas nak jumpa hero hindustan you yang hensem tu :D
