UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

For Yasmin

Posted by Picasa

I've forgotten about this set of cupcakes which I made for my cousin,Yasmin aka Syamin born 13 years ago on May 12th. I remember that date clearly because, in my family on my father's side, she's the first cousin and we were all very excited to welcome her. I am very close to her mom, my aunty by right, but we're more like sisters due to our close age gap. Seeing the little baby for the first time was just indescribable, and I was there for most part of her pantang days so that I could help out my aunty manage her firstborn.

I was just required to make very simple & pastel design for her, but what was lack in style and creativity, I definitely made up for in flavour and taste! Each row of the cuppies were made of different flavours, which I can't remember now. Isk, my brain's slowly degeneratinglah... but I do remember there were rosewater pistachio, strawberry and cherry almond. These cuppies were shared with her friends at MRSM Balik Pulau, and from what I heard, the girls looooooved them!

A happy belated birthday to my beloved, Syatirah Yasmin.

Beary Happy Cupcakes

A set of fondant cupcakes - flavours were milli vanilla (vanilla with choc chips & chocolate buttercream) and princess of persia (rosewater-pistachio with rosewater buttercream). Sounds like a heavenly combination, right?

This set was made for Nizam to celebrate her dad's and sister's birthday. Alhamdulillah, they all liked it very much although two of the bears' ears fell off, which I only realized after I edited these pics.

Before meeting Nizam, I added her on FB thinking that Nizam is a guy when it clearly states that she wrote her 'Binti' after her name *doink!*. So when I was supposed to meet her nearby my house, I was expecting to see a guy to come to pick up the cupcakes. Teheehee... so embarrassing.

Thanks Nizam & family. Ada rezeki boleh order ngan akak lagi ye...

Gong Xi Gong Xi

Celebration time! I don't think I'll have the time to make CNY fondant cuppies promo this time. Boohoohoo... but we'll see. CNY is only a few days away.

These are made for Nadia, rosewater & pistachio cupcakes. I hope she likes it :D

Sunny Skies & Garden Friends

Rina of Papakeechee requested a very colourful themed cuppies to be shared with her friends at the office. As you can see from her blog, she has a thing for bright colours, coz she is a colourful character herself. Tak main la pastel-pastel, mellow-sallow like me, hehe.

25 small sized rosewater & pistachio cuppies.

I admit that my drawing skills still needs a lot of improvement. But Rina didn't seem to mind, as she blogged about the cuppies here.

Thanks a bunch, Rina!

P/S: Rina'a having a giveaway at her stitching blog at Sinfully Stitched. Don't miss out on joining coz she has an awesome hand-stitched bag up for grabs!

AMIRA & AZMY

I love the fact that cakes are legitimate gifts at any kind of celebration - especially weddings.

So I made the cake below for a wedding of a VIP's daughter. Rosewater marbled butter cake (no pistachio, out of stock). Sajalah suka-suka kan. Nak bagi hadiah mahal2 takde bajet :D

A cake like this when they've already have their own for as wedding and hantaran cakes? Why not?  An extra cake would always be appreciated, methinks. Most weddings I've been to, the cakes were rarely passed around to the guests after the cake cutting ceremony. If the cake is modest in size, it will be rushed into the house after the cut, which is meant to be saved to family members after the event. Sometimes, as a compensation, guests will get a cupcake or a muffin as wedding favours.

Tapi cupcake/muffin tu biarlah lebih kurang sama kualitinya macam wedding cake yang gah tu. If not, tak payahlah buat cake cutting ceremony depan guests semua. Buat je belah malam ke or any other time, just a small ceremony among family members or small circle of friends.

Or... or or or, do guests really expect to see the bride and groom to cut the cake, and NOT expect to get a piece? Is it just me who feels disappointed when I don't get to taste the cake?

Isk, membebel pulak. Anyway, this is just my two cents (one cent pun tak laku kot). No offense to anyone. But I don't know, is there a code of conduct for cake cutting ceremonies in our culture?

HUZAIFAH & HARZIANA

Uploading the last of my raya pics is an atrocious task, but upload I still must.

These are the orders I made for Baizura's cousin, Anom who is sponsoring one bekas hantaran for Bai's brother who was getting engaged on the 3rd day of raya.

Frankly, I'm all out of steam while finishing these cuppies. Jiwa tengah meruntun sangat. Sedih, pedih, pilu...

Cuppies flavours were carrot walnut & rosewater pistachio. I made some extras and they are superbly yummy. My fussy eater hubby commented that the rosewater pistachio tasted like an Indian dessert. Hah, dah rasa baru tau...

To Anom & Bai, thank you soooo much for the trust.

*Edited: Anom just sent me a pic of the two newly-engaged. I can't resist sharing it on this blog coz I really, really think Harziana looks like Umie Aida in here!

Congratulations, you two!

GRACEFUL VINES

I have loads of photos I haven't shared, and I'm still feeling 'bleaaarrgghhh' coz once uploaded to blogger, the photo quality become horrible. Dahlah memang horrible in the first place.

This is the best shot I got from Wina's 'Graceful Vines', delivered on the second day of Eid. We were both stuck in the dreadful & infamous Penang Bridge jam that afternoon. Although I managed to avoid the bridge and headed to the ferry instead, the jam at the terminal was even worse!

We were both late for the her cousin's engagement ceremony. The cuppies didn't make it to the dulang hantaran (I think) - but at least they were enjoyed by the whole family.

Of course, in every dark cloud there is a silver lining. The good thing that came out from that terrible experience was being able to meet the lovable Wina & family. I even met my uni lecturer who is Wina's aunt.

A mix of 'Princess of Persia' (rosewater & pistachio) and 'Red Riding Hood' (red velvet). Thank you so much Wina for the generous order.

WHIMSICAL VINES

My pride and joy, to date.

Thanks to Ieda who has been such a great supporter to Liplickin' all these while, and was willing to let me create a special flavour for her, rosewater and pistachio cupcakes - my Princess of Persia.

Happy Anniversary, dear. May Allah bless you, Asrul and Alin always.

PRINCESS OF PERSIA

I've been dying to announce my latest cupcake flavour, but I keep putting it off coz (1) I couldn't find or didn't have the time to look for a real rose for my photo session and (2) I was feeling uninspired to give it a smashing name.

Well, look no more. As soon as I saw that movie trailer starring that Gyllenhaal dude (I can never look at him the same way again since Brokeback Mountain), I stuck a hideous gum paste flower on my frozen cupcake and just get on with it.

Rosewater and pistachio cupcake with rosewater frosting. Rosewater and pistachio are widely used in Persian and Turkish desserts such as baklavas and sholeh-zard.

Forgive me, but I just have to show how the insides look like. It's still very moist even after being frozen for more than a week.

The rosewater taste is quite mild. I'll probably have to add more rose essence to enhance the flavour, since pure and truly fragrant rosewater is hard to come by.

So yeah, this flavour is highly recommended for those who are sick and tired of chocolates already (yours trulylah tu... siapa lagi)
