UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

The Pretty Cake That Could (well, almost!)

This is the cake that almost didn't make it... Atikah placed an order for this hantaran cake on behalf of her mom who wanted to give it as a present to a friend whose daughter was getting married (huh? come again?)

I wasn't in the best of health to finish decorating the cake. After failing the second time to cover the cake while battling a hazy, fuzzy, flu-medication-induced mind, I turned to a good friend, Kak Tun to help me this one time while I had to settle my other deliveries.
I'm not ashamed to give credit when it is due..

But that's a very nice bouquet of flowers, right? Atikah requested the same cake from a photo she emailed me and I was more that happy to oblige. But of course I didn't make those flowers myself. I ordered them from Kak Linda from the famous Kaori Cake. I'm so inspired to learn make these flowers myself. One day, Insya-Allah... I've already taken my first step, finally got my hands on those gumpaste modeling tools. Bought them at Mr. DIY at the fraction of its original price!

Thank you Atikah & her mom for your trust in my cake... well, of course I baked that cake. It was vanilla cake with blueberry filling and covered in vanilla buttercream. That credit goes to me :D

Ebi's Dream Cake

Another last minute project for my niece's birthday, Ebi. The barbie cake made her grand entrance, an hour after the makan-makan party started. Ha, talk about being fashionably late. I'm not totally satisfied with my work this time, coz I changed my mind halfway to make this cake from a buttercream to a fondant cake. I was worried the cake would not survive the journey to my in laws' house if it wasn't secured with a fondant dress.

Despite the ala-ala shabby chic outcome, the birthday girl was ecstatic to get her cake. Three layers of chocolate, blueberry & vanilla cake filled with cream cheese and frosted with blueberry buttercream. So happy to see the kids gobble the cake up.

For Prof Angus

I almost left out this order from Ju & Sha (ACMS Kepala Batas). They'd like to surprise their professor on his birthday during class, but there was just one problem. It was very last minute! So, I told them I can squeeze in a few and decorate them very simply.

These are just RM20 for 10 large pieces (paper liner size 10). Siap buat special free delivery lagi kat college.

I hope Prof Angus enjoyed this lovely surprise. Bertuah dapat students macam Ju & Sha :)

Cuddly Friendly SS Monsters

These four lil' Sesame Street monster were for Hafizah. I don't usually take orders for just 4 cuppies, but since she insisted and it was her birthday, I gave in. Kesian lak rasanya nak menolak hajat orang.

These are vanilla cupcakes filled with strawberry and blueberry filling.

She came all the way from KL, singgah Penang, then from Penang, came to Seberang Jaya to meet me at Tesco Extra before she was off to Perlis. Quite a journey huh?
Dear Fizah, thank you so much and hope you had the loveliest birthday :D

Roses In Pink-Silver

Another set for my beloved sis, Kak Umi who ordered this hantaran set for her cousin.

Spent the whole night trying out my new alphabet cutter. Took me that long due to the wet weather (again, blame it on the rain!)

Still need practice, but do you like my roses? Haha, I used a cheap mould that costs.... wait for it.... TWO RINGGIT!

Blossom

I had butterflies in my tummy to present my first stacked wedding cake.

It's not that big, the bottom layer is 10 inches in diameter, the middle 8 inches and the top is 7 inches (which I think 6 inches would be more apropriate considering the size ratio between the bottom and the second layer) and the whole cake is +- 8 inches tall.

The cake is a mix of strawberry, blueberry and vanilla flavoured cake with strawberry buttercream. Due to the rainy weather, the fondant got a little wet *stress*, but I hope it doesn't look so disasterous since I don't use dowels at all to support the cake (small only mah).

This is a cake that wouldn't cost a bomb, so to brides/grooms/wedding planners out there who has a tight budget but want a grand looking cake, do drop me a line yah.

Thank you soooo much to my sis Umi for the order. Selamat Pengantin Baru to her cousin Eida and Faris.

ENTROPHY

The day I made and delivered these cuppies was one of those days the law of Mr. Murphy befell me. It was a looooong day and a loooooong story that I shall spare my readers, but in the end, Alhamdulillah - everything worked out great for everyone.

Dear Ishtar, I'm so sorry for the trouble you went through. I learnt a valuable lesson through the ordeal, and I must thank you for it. I do hope your friend loved the cupcakes.

Bak kata Alia dalam Cerekarama "Hantu Kek" last week, "Biar penyek asal sedap!"

BYE BYE BIRDIE

Inspired by the movie musical, this set was a special order by hubby's bowling friend, Mr. Bad for his tweetheart's wife's birthday. Except from the cupcakes' flavour, his choice of a combination of vanilla & chocolate with choc chips mix-in, I was given his whole trust to come up with the theme and colour combination.

Hope his tweetheart loved this cuppies as much as I did!

HAPPY ANNI WAN & WANI

My long lost junior from secondary school ordered this for her wedding anniversary today.

In this box, 25 pcs of moist choc cupcakes with buttercream

In another box, another 25 of vanilla and lemon cupcakes with blue roses and purple haze theme. Dah dia berkenan theme ni, lawa(k) katanya :D

Wani's adorable dot - Farisha. She has the most wonderful curls and cute nose!

Thank you so much Wani for giving me this great opportunity and for coming all the way from Parit Buntar to pick up her order. It's been so long, kan? We'll meet up again when you visit your mom's place in Bertam, Insya-allah.

Wani's feedback on my cupcakes was nothing short but glowing. Her own words (via sms) were "nyummylicious, "the icing doesn't give you headaches" and *gasp* even better than other cupcakes she tasted before! Now, that makes all the hard work really worthwhile. So sweet of you Wani, my little postman (personal joke!)

p/s: Wani has a business selling awesome looking hijabs that she sews herself. Browse through her facebook gallery kay. Raya kan dah dekat!

SCHOOL DAZE

Last Tuesday, on a whim, you can say I 'committed suicide' by trying to sell my cupcakes at a school function in Prai. It was risky, but somehow I needed the adrenaline rush!

To keep costs very low so that kids can afford my cuppies, I used a base of krimwell for my frosting, and I still think they taste pretty good. They held up quite well too under the hot weather.

On top tier are chocolate cuppies with cookie dough frosting, second tier coconut cupcakes, lemon cupcakes and vanilla with vanilla buttercream (bottom). I made around 50 plus of these small cuppies, selling at RM1 each.

If only I didn't have to get my behind back to my office by noon, I couldn't have sold all my cupcakes. I arrived at the school around 10 am and had to leave by 11.30 am. But it didn't matter that the coconut ones weren't such a hit with the students (they don't know what they're missing!) but at least I know chocolate cuppies are sure bestsellers. The remaining dozen cupcakes or so were sent somewhere else (will post about this place soon) and to my relief, were sold out by Friday.

Surrounded by these friendly young people makes me think and feel young! These girls who helped me with my little makeshift stall were rewarded with a cupcake each. I had so much fun chatting with them!
