UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

NIKON D300S CAMERA CAKE

A special request by Yanafuziana of Lensabisu who just celebrated her big day on the 31st Oct 2010.

This was a big task for me, my first wedding cake. I'm sure you cake makers out there were especially attached and anxious with your firsts, am I right?

I am willing to share some tips to help other new bakers out there who, like me, scour the whole worldwideweb for tutorials. In another post, maybe.

My heartfelt thanks to her for entrusting me with this huge responsibility. Congratulations to both you and your now life-partner, Izudin.

p/s: Yana, I can't apologize to you enough about the fondant yg lembik balik due to the rainy weather. I'm truly, truly am sorry & thank you for being such a nice and understanding bride :)

TOBEY'S MOUSEY

When I received another email from Sam inquiring about a cake for her pet's birthday, complete with a sample photo, I almost fell off my chair! Not that I think it's a silly request or anything, I just find it too funny and so unbelievable, that someone actually trusted me with such confidence.

Initially Sam wanted a Pomeranian figurine on top of her cake, but with my limited skill, this is the best that I could come up with. A figurine of a toy mouse that Tobey used to have.

Isn't she gorgeous? Sam has a very big heart and was a very nice customer. And look how sweet Tobey is? He barked madly at me the first time I went to Sam's house, I'm surprised at how small he really is. He sounded like a BIG dog!

It's an 8 inch cake covered in home-rolled fondant. Yes, I made the fondant myself! The flavour of the cake was peaches and cream. I baked the extra batter into a smaller cake pan, and tried it myself. I must say the cake was very moist and delicious, I couldn't stop eating it!

Thank you Sam & sorry for the bad spelling, hehe.

THAT DARN CAT

My biggest challenge yet! Diyana of diyanazman.com ordered this for her son Miki who just turned two last Sunday.

As usual, any project is nerve wrecking for me but alhamdulillah, I managed to complete this cake in time and Diyana wasn't a fussy customer and accepted the little flaws in my feline creation. I get such positive feedback from the others about the cake in terms of flavour, it made me beam inside out. Thank you so much Diyana, Azman & Miki for having us at the party which was a blast!

The cake flavour was carrot walnut cake with white chocolate, cream cheese frosting and covered with fondant. For the limbs, I had to bake a smaller round cake, vanilla cake with strawberry jam. I didn't expect the head took a lot of cake to make! But it was  fun looking at the cat being 'slaughtered', and the little kiddies simply yanking the limbs off when I told them to.

Insya-allah I'll be able to come up with other creations similar to this. Interested, just email me at raggedyanne79@gmail.com and let me know your ideas.

Here's some pics to share of Miki's awesome party.

Azman (the part-time superhero), Miki The Bday Boy and Diyana (the Retired Drama Queen)

They named the kitty cake Alex, after Shana's dearly departed cat!

Poor Shana!

Nunu & I really enjoyed the party!
