UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

The Pretty Cake That Could (well, almost!)

This is the cake that almost didn't make it... Atikah placed an order for this hantaran cake on behalf of her mom who wanted to give it as a present to a friend whose daughter was getting married (huh? come again?)

I wasn't in the best of health to finish decorating the cake. After failing the second time to cover the cake while battling a hazy, fuzzy, flu-medication-induced mind, I turned to a good friend, Kak Tun to help me this one time while I had to settle my other deliveries.
I'm not ashamed to give credit when it is due..

But that's a very nice bouquet of flowers, right? Atikah requested the same cake from a photo she emailed me and I was more that happy to oblige. But of course I didn't make those flowers myself. I ordered them from Kak Linda from the famous Kaori Cake. I'm so inspired to learn make these flowers myself. One day, Insya-Allah... I've already taken my first step, finally got my hands on those gumpaste modeling tools. Bought them at Mr. DIY at the fraction of its original price!

Thank you Atikah & her mom for your trust in my cake... well, of course I baked that cake. It was vanilla cake with blueberry filling and covered in vanilla buttercream. That credit goes to me :D

Cheesy Pop Tarts

My long-time school friend, Irda, ordered 80 pcs of assorted cheesy-pop tarts... after experiencing several setbacks making these tarts within my time constraints, this time, I finally got the hang of it and finished them in record time! I felt so awesome, I gobbled up 5 of these babies without much regret ;D

School Hols Cuppies

The day I delivered these cuppies to Teacher Niza was my hari kelam kabut sedunia. 100 pcs cuppies, a birthday cake, a hantaran cake and 80 pcs of cheesy-pop tarts to be made and delivered on the same day. And I was still feeling very sick at the time.

Alhamdulillah, Allah gave me the will to finish everything on time, with the help of some good friends too. These cuppies were for the teachers of SMK Mengkuang to mark the start of the school holidays.

A box of cookie crumble, rosewater-pistachio, chocolate mod mint and another box of mixed cupcakes; red velvet, honey caramel, and chocolate.

Thomas Cake for Emran

Mrs Dramamama ordered this cake and two boxes of assorted pop-tarts for her nephie-poo, Emran, who turns two last Thursday. She wanted a moist chocolate cake covered with white chocolate ganache actually, but I've never successfully made white chocolate ganache before. So I recommended that I stick to what I do best, dark chocolate ganache.

I'm never that good or neat at drawing, I never am a perfectionist, but I do believe there is a certain art to it, in a rustic, homemade kind of way. I hope my comot drawing of Thomas didn't look too bad!

Mickey Themed Birthday Treats

Aida a.k.a The Coffee Addict celebrated her son, Umar Syarif's birthday last two Saturdays. I made chocolate cake, 50 pcs cupcakes and 80 pcs assorted cheesy-pop tarts.

I suggested my aunty to her for the party food catering; delicious maximus bihun tomyam (and it wasn't even too spicy, kids boleh makan), egg sandwich and teh tarik kaw-kaw. So anybody near Kepala Batas area who'd like yummy party foods, just contact us, Mak Baek Catering - 013-5236005, "Good People, Good Food!"

A perfectly chocolatey cake with chocolate ganache.

Two boxes of Mickey Mouse cuppies - vanilla and strawberry flavour.

Here's sharing some pics taken by the official photog, the very talended Cathy. More pics of the birthday bash can be viewed at The Coffee Addicts.

Nice shot, eh?

My cheesy-pop tarts! Hodoh tapi sedap, tak tipu. 80 pieces. Lenguh tangan!

My pretty cupcake and unpretty hands! Thanks so much for the order Aida!

Red Riding Hood

This Red Velvet Cupcake is actually my baker's dozen. Well, the dozen in my book is 25 exactly, and not 12, so this cupcakes is actually my 26th cupcake... and extra from my normal 25 cupcakes perbox.

Gedebak gedebuk rushing to finish Ilie's order, I've forgotten to snap a picture. So this is it, an relatively old picture really. Extra pun extralah... seketul pun jadilah buat kenangan sempena Ilie's order.

Thankfully, although the cuppies were delivered kinda late ( why else, I *almost* forgot about her order!) she and her friends loved 'em cuppies. An sms I received from her "The moderate sweetness and the frosting suit my palate. Thanks Kak Anne for baking the cupcakes the right way".

Really, I'm over the moon!

Love You Much

A box of chocolate oreo cuppies for a very surprised Mr. Iqbal. Each of these cuppies was thoughtfully designed by the sender, Iqa... and the majority of the design was based on a pic she emailed me. Credit goes to the original baker, ya. Please inform me if you've seen this design anywhere.

It was so much fun doing these cuppies and giving Iqa live updates as I delivered the cuppies to her sweetie's office.

Two In One Birthday Bash

For Kak Leez's children's birthday, I was required to make 100 pieces cupcakes - 50 for the kakak Qistina and 50 for the adik, Nafis.

Alas, my dad unexpectedly paid us a visit at home that day, so my timing ada lari sikit. I was such in a hurry that I forgot to snap any pictures before I left the house. I even forgot to bring along my camera! What's happening to me? Transform dah jadi Forgetful Aunty Anne!

All pics are from my 2MP camera phone. Brand Cokia... hahaha!

Not only that, I forgot that Kak Leez mentioned that she wanted some Cars figurine on some of the cuppies for Nafis, like the Thomas & Friends I made previously. I truly, truly forgot about it, in fact, I have no recollection whatsoever about the conversation. Huhuhu, that's why people... I prefer my orders to be in writing - email or sms. It's harder for me to miss these important little details!

Instead, I made a box of 25 pieces orange cupcakes with orange filling with little kodok-kodok cars theme! Kesian member, don't worry, Aunty Anne will make it up to you soon, honey.

Nafis also is crazy about fish, so I made little fishies in another box of cookie crumble cuppies.

For Qistina, 25 pcs strawberry cupcakes with strawberry filling and moist chocolatey cupcakes with strawberry filling & choc ganache.

These tiers are handmade and is available for rent. Do email me at raggedyanne79@gmail.com for details.

I'd like to share Nunu's face that was painted by a friend. Although she was feeling feverish, she was so excited to go to the party and packed her own pussycat hairband to match her make-up. Nice or not? Do visit Kak Zati's website or her facebook page if you're interested to hire her for any events.

Lavender Blue Birthday

Atiqah ordered this set, kind of last minute, for her sister, who is a fan of the colour lavender and anything purple. I don't know what happened to my eyes but these cuppies looked too blue in broad daylight when they looked perfectly lavender to me the previous night. I think I must have been confused with that lullaby I always listen to on Nunu's nursery rhymes CD.

Flavour was vanilla with blueberry filling and vanilla buttercream. Glad the birthday girl loved it. Thank you so much Atiqah for the order!
