A STAR IS BORN

 

These pretty hampers were for Kak Liz yang kiut-miut. She's on the her daughter's school PTA board and she sponsored these hampers for the a talentime they were having.


I decided to create a cute star sticker on the lolly topper at the last minute. Nice final touch, eh?

HUGS & KISSES FOR DADDY

These were made for Kak Wati & family, bersempena her hubby's birthday which fell on Aidil Adha, I think.

She loves the theme 'Hugs & Kisses' which I did for my nieces, so I replicate the design plus some additional characters.



He loves cars, so here's a racing car. My fondant still became lembik again after momentarily dried up *curses*



He loves his darling wife. Tengok mulut tu tengah buat memuahs :)



He loves his little girls.

So happy birthday Daddy! Mintak maap banyak-banyak if Daddy resembles Mat Kacau... huhuhu.

AYU & AZHAR - WEDDING CUPPIES

These are the only photo I have of Ayu's wedding peaches & cream cuppies, taken from the boot of my car, boxed and loaded for delivery at the crack of dawn.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I didn't have time to take proper photos of the cuppies and the accompanying wedding cake on their proper cake tiers and cake stand. Yup, I bought a gorgeous stand and cake tier especially for this order. I'm feeling a bit misty-eyed, these are my first ever wedding cuppies, served to the VIPs and I don't have a blardy photo to commemorate this special event.

What am I talking about? It was Ayu's special eventlah. There were a few funny incidents but as usual, I had saviors - blessed souls who helped me get through them.

QUEEN OF HEARTS

Uploading the last photo of Yana's hantaran cake. This was a huge heart shaped cake, orange butter cake, filled with vanilla buttercream filling & finished with fresh cream. The fondant heart shaped deco was supposed to be hard, made a few days earlier, but at the last minute, turned soft & gooey when it rained the night before the day of delivery. My solution was to use cardboard cutouts and stick the fondant shapes together to form the firm shapes.

Sometimes you just gotta cheat, but as long as you declare & clarify to your customer, there shouldn't be a problem.

I couldn't trace the original design which Yana sent to me, so if you've seen this design elsewhere, do me a favour and notify me please.

GOLDEN ROSE

Uploading some pics from last week, orders from Yanafuziana of Lensabisu. This girl really has her trust on me coming up with her wedding cake and two sets of hantaran cakes. Crazy, I tell ya.

The design of the cupcakes she sent to me was a little bit more elaborate than this, so this is my simplified version. The focal point in the cupcake sample photo is this huge bouquet of roses, so I used store-bought gumpaste flowers in yellow and painted some edible gold dust to do the trick.

I'm sooo frustrated the damp weather made my fondant melt and sticky satu macam. Pros out there, how do you overcome this problem? Use gumpaste all the way? But they taste so yucky :(


































'The Italian Job' cuppies... Tiramisu!

HUGS & KISSES

This set of cuppies which I lovingly name Hugs & Kisses were made for my nieces, Bida & Alya. Ada yang dorang nak makan & dengar ura-uranya nak bagi seketul dua for their 'special friends' (lucky people!).

Half of the cuppies were chocolate moist with blueberry filling & another half, chocolate moist with strawberry filling, topped with fresh cream. The girls made a very last minute order, coincidentally I had some gumpaste decorations in the shades of pink and purple in stock! Bertuah punya budak-budak ler...

COLOURS OF RANGOLI

Deepavali cuppies made for my SSP junior, Ishtar. To be given to her boss, Mr Arumugam for his Deepavali open house as buah tangan.

Flavour was Princess of Persia - rosewater & pistachio - again! Can't help it lah, they taste a lot like laddus!

NIKON D300S CAMERA CAKE

A special request by Yanafuziana of Lensabisu who just celebrated her big day on the 31st Oct 2010.

 This was a big task for me, my first wedding cake. I'm sure you cake makers out there were especially attached and anxious with your firsts, am I right?

I am willing to share some tips to help other new bakers out there who, like me, scour the whole worldwideweb for tutorials. In another post, maybe.

My heartfelt thanks to her for entrusting me with this huge responsibility. Congratulations to both you and your now life-partner, Izudin.

p/s: Yana, I can't apologize to you enough about the fondant yg lembik balik due to the rainy weather. I'm truly, truly am sorry & thank you for being such a nice and understanding bride :)
