UPDATES

Assalamualaikum & Hello everyone!

It has been a hectic few months for me, so forgive me for not updating much on this blog. Truth is, it's easier to make updates via Facebook and a lot of customers reach me through FB too. The picture albums there are more organized, so head over there for much easier viewing of my previous work, OK.

Now, I've never mentioned it here, but I can also provide special dietary cakes and cupcakes. So if you're in Penang and looking for something vegan (eggless & dairy-free) or gluten-free (no flour) or sugarless/sugar-free, do shoot me an email and we'll talk.

Deliveries to Penang Island and surrounding areas is still available, but due to rising costs, I'll have to increase the delivery charge. You would understand, right? The fuel, time, energy, not to mention, vehicle maintenance, and the worst of all, traffic jams - they can just zap you dry :)

Hugs & kisses to all my loyal customers. Love you guys lots!

CUPCAKES FOR CHARITY

Assalamualaikum everyone.

Ramadhan is here once again and I've been planning to do this for quite sometime. I've been making this business as a side income and we all know that, for all the blessings and rizq we receive from the Almighty, it is not 100% ours to keep.

Sebahagian daripada rezeki itu adalah hak orang lain.

So, I'm announcing that 10% of all Liplickin' profit will go to charity. It's not much, but it is a start. I'm really hoping that others can join me to do the same.

The proceeds will go to a fund for PDK Permatang Damar Laut, Pulau Pinang. The center is run by a good friend of mine, Puan Fatimah Kader Bacha. The fund mentioned is managed under an NGO - DEWANITA Pulau Pinang, a women entrepeneur wing of Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia Pulau Pinang.

She needs the fund very badly to run a workshop for the disabled children under her care and to equip them with proper skills and knowledge in different areas of industries and to groom them to be independent entrepreneurs and not just mere workers.

Though I'm helping here in a small way, I believe that if more people can join me and pledge the same, Puan Fatimah will have enough fund to start with.

Just imagine, if I can only come up with a maximum of RM100, and I can find other bakers for example, to do the same, say 25 people, we've already raised RM2500. Enough to buy some basic ingredients and equipments for Puan Fatimah to teach the kids bake cookies, for example.

Those who dropped by this blog, do help me spread the word around, ya? Those who are interested to join this cause,  please email me at raggedyanne79@gmail.com and I'll give more details.

Ni Aunty Anne nak pergi kempen ni... berniaga sambil beramal.

My little girl enjoyed her visit to the centre recently and didn't want to go home!

Here's wishing everyone a blessed Ramadhan. Semoga segala amalan kita diberkati dan diterima oleh-Nya.

ROSY

Wani, the hardcore fan of my Lemony Snickett's finally caved in and opted for some moist chocolatey cuppies for a change. Well, yes, you can have way too many zesty lemon cuppies in a year, my dear.

Struck by a severe case Ramadhan blues (is there such thing? I feel so tired all the time, around the clock - so tak larat la dah tua ka makcik ni) I couldn't promise anything fancy for Wani. Just simple swirls of strawberry and blueberry buttercream roses.

Thank you so much you guys, for being such an ardent supporter. Wani punya pasal, letih macam mana pun Kak Anne tunaikan jugak your request although less than 24 hour notice :)
Sayang Wani.

RED VELVET SWIRLS

These simple cuppies were requested by bride-to-be Atikah, whom I think is making a round of cake testing before finalizing on her choice of wedding cake & kenduri favours.

And she has good taste. These are red velvet with an extra ordinary frosting - strawberry jam buttercream instead of cream cheese, which I find an interesting combination.

Thanks so much for the order Atikah & fiance! It's so great to know you guys enjoyed these sweeties..

STRAWBERRY LUX

Old age and dementia must be creeping up on me, I almost left out this luxurious order of dulce de leche cuppies with choc lava filling & choc ganache & strawberry toppers by Fazreen.

Initially, we had other plans for the toppers. However, my fondant wasn't drying very well due to the rainy weather for a couple of days/nights. Which is why I learnt my lesson -  use gumpaste next time since the temperature in my kitchen & house is quite unreliable. Much fast-drying I suppose. So in the last minute, we agreed to use fresh strawberries instead. Alhamdulillah, Fazreen was a very understanding customer.

Thank you so much for your support, Fazreen! I'm really happy the little kiddies liked the cuppies :)

HAPPY CONVO

This is another special request. Jaz asked whether I can make just 10 fondant cuppies for her. Hmm... just as I was about to make a resolution (to not to turn my oven up for anything below RM50 - haha), I said yes anyway. She picked her all-time favourite flavour, moist chocolate chip with vanilla buttercream.

Special box...

... with special cupcakes...

and a special promo price - RM40!

Details of the promo set:
1) Applies to all basic chocolate based or vanilla based flavours, just add RM5 if the recipe requires chocolate ganache or cream cheese frosting.
2) Comes in a cute aeiou studio box.
3) Max 3 colour for fondant decorations.
4) 10 cupcakes in medium sized solo cups.

I will upload samples of the boxes available soon. So stay tuned!

FOR LOVELY NOLY

Usually, customers aren't encouraged to mix flavours in a box because it's quite a hassle for me, the baker, to prepare different kinds of cupcakes with different patterns and looks in a single box.

When I get a special request from Adis, I thought about it a little longer and said, "Well, why not?". If I'm a customer myself, I'd like to taste different kinds of flavours and not just get a box of pretty cakes. Having said that, I must also say that we work with a certain limitation, mixed cupcake within the same basic flavour which is either vanilla base or chocolate base.

So, what Adis chose for his sweetheart Noly were, chocolate chip cuppies with chocolate ganache, chocolate chip mint with mint buttercream, chocolate chip with orange buttercream, and chocolate with strawberry jam filling and vanilla buttercream.

Pretty fancy for a small cupcakery that operates from a small kampung home, if you ask me.

Thankfully, my customers love the combination very much (especially the mint one, YEAY! another chocolate mint lover convert!) and quite forgiving with the uninspired design, haha.

Thank you so much Adis for your order and Happy Birthday Noly :)

MY FIRST PRINCESS DOLL CAKE

When I was around 3-4, I had this fixation with princesses. I was probably overdosed on Disney's Sleeping Beauty as I have my standard when it comes to how a princess should look like. She must have long blond hair, wears a long gown, a tiara, gloves, the works.

And I will torture my aunt, who could have been around 10-11 at the time, to draw me these princesses, the exact same princesses, everyday. All the time. Whenever I feel like it. And what makes her exasperated so much with me was, I never allowed the princesses she drew to have any sense of modern fashion. Like the late Princess Di's short hair for instance.

Now, karma strikes back. My own daughter is obsessed with everything princessy (which I think is a good thing considering she does have the tendency to lose all inhibitions) but thank goodness, she draws her own princesses and only asks for my help when she's having some trouble.

I made this princess doll cake, out of redemption, for my aunt's daughter, Farah. A way of me saying 'Thank you' for all those torturous years and annoyance I inflicted on her.

Red velvet and marble butter cake lepas kena terkam. Crumb coated with cream cheese and frosted with blueberry buttercream. Got great reviews about the cake especially about it's unique taste, they couldn't get enough of it.

For the party, they were having a cupcake decorating contest, so I supplied them with some mini cuppies and the materials, buttercream, nozzles, sprinkles, etc. I tell ya, it was fun but hard work getting 20+ kiddies under control.

Farah, the birthday girl.

Ahmad, the little brother.

Syamin, the elder sister.

And this, the winner!

Happy Birthday Fatimatuzzahrah!
