16 CARROT GOLD

I took on the next challenge to come up with some gold-themed wedding hantaran for Diyana. Brave attempt, I would say, as it was VERY last minute. Luckily Diyana wasn't a fussy customer to deal with.

I had some luck as well as some misfortune while making this set. I had enough carrots to make the carrot walnut-white choc cupcakes, but the fondant didn't appear as 'gold' as I wanted to be. Perhaps with some edible gold dust, they would look much nicer. But I was fortunate enough to have found a charming little genius invention called the tart mould in the shape of a lattice heart, so my heart shaped fondant deco looked very sweet indeed.

But my worst luck was the mistake of purchasing that plasticky signage "Selamat Bertunang" instead of "Selamat Pengantin Baru". My bad for thinking that all the signs in that little box at the bakery supplies shop says "Selamat Pengantin Baru" and didn't check at the payment counter.

So, I only realized my mistake at around 5 pm, so I rushed everything because the store closes at 7 pm. It rained garfields and odies when I arrived at the store just minutes before it closed to get the right sign.  Although I managed to solve the problem, I was feeling jittery and nervous the entire time coz I was driving my husband's car that was extremely low on fuel and I had no time to stop for gas. Delivering the cupcakes through the dark and stormy night along an eerie route lined with palm trees did things to my nerves and contributed to really depressing thoughts (probably because I was late for picking up my daughter and I also needed to pee real bad!), but thank heavens it was easy to look for Diyana's home and I made it safely there by 7.30 pm.

I really hope she and her family love these cupcakes, coz I went through h*** and back for them.

FUN WITH FONDANT

I had the opportunity to practice my not so crafty side with fondant the other day. My aunty decided to give cupcakes as gifts to her loyal customers.

Working with fondant wasn't easy. I almost stick my head in a blender at some point, but indeed, I need more practice. The question is to find the time and the motivation. The latter is kinda low these days. Blame it on the attack of the killer ants that's been swarming every square inch of my home due to the rainy season and make me go real nuts.

BYE BYE BIRDIE

Inspired by the movie musical, this set was a special order by hubby's bowling friend, Mr. Bad for his tweetheart's wife's birthday. Except from the cupcakes' flavour, his choice of a combination of vanilla & chocolate with choc chips mix-in, I was given his whole trust to come up with the theme and colour combination.

Hope his tweetheart loved this cuppies as much as I did!

LIFESAVER

Warning: This is a recycled post!

Again, my hardcore fan Wani ordered this set for her hubby's birthday last 4th Nov.  Yet again, her choice is lemony snickett's with cream cheese! While going through my cupcake photos on FB, her 3 year old dot Farisha chose this design for her darling Ayah.

And of course, it was a perfect choice coz for Wani (who explained to me when I couldn't believe that someone really liked that theme of mine!) her hubby is her lifesaver, her anchor, her dream boat  life boa, whose been her rock in the choppy ocean of life. Uiihhhh, deep stuff there. Haha.

These pics were snitched from Wani's FB page. Sweet, right?

Wani also order another two sets of 25 mini ones. I hope Farisha like the simple flora design.

Thank you again Wani, for being such a wonderful supporter of this little business of mine. And a happy 7-days-late-birthday wish you Azwan! Next year, I wanna see you janggut grow even longer!

SPRING SONG

Spring Song - A poem by Robert Louis Stevenson

THE air was full of sun and birds,
The fresh air sparkled clearly.
Remembrance wakened in my heart
And I knew I loved her dearly.

The fallows and the leafless trees
And all my spirit tingled.
My earliest thought of love, and Spring's
First puff of perfume mingled.

In my still heart the thoughts awoke,
Came lone by lone together -
Say, birds and Sun and Spring, is Love
A mere affair of weather?

Thank you so much to Ishtar who ordered these for her brother's engagement last Sunday. Glad you liked the simple deco, I stayed up till 4 a.m to bake these flora cuppies! Alhamdulillah, Allah gave me the strength and the rizq to accomplish the order.

AUTUMN BLOOMS

What I actually never thought would happen when I started this blog is - BACKLOG!

I'm still in the autumnal mood, so when Ieda, again trusted me whole-heartedly to make cupcakes for her sis-in-law's wedding with cream & brown theme, you bet I was more than glad to come up with my interpretation if the autumn colours.

I made a terrible mistake which shall serve a grim reminder for me next time I take orders that include people's name on the cuppies. The groom's name was supposed to be 'NAIN' (stands for Dzulkarnain) but when I was on the YM with Ieda, I wrote down the name as 'Naim'. I'm terrible sorry Ieda, thank goodness you were able to repair my mistake!

The roses and ready made ones as I think they'd survive the travel to Negeri Sembilan.  They're still a little wet from the gold coloring that I brushed on them

Ieda's choice of cake is moist chocolate with chocolate and vanilla buttercream. I added something extra special, melted chocolate filling! The cupcakes were delivered Thursday morning but the wedding wasn't until Sunday, so I hope the cake are OK. I was really worried that they cakes wouldn't last till Sunday so I told Ieda to refrigerate the cupcakes in an airtight tupperware, which I normally wouldn't suggest to customers (they should be eaten immediately!)

However, some of the leftover cupcakes from the same batch that I kept in my fridge still tasted yummy & moist yesterday, so I hope it's all good!
